Fast start propels North to win at Riverside

North used a fast start to down host Riverside in a Western Reserve Conference showdown on Saturday, 41-33.

The Rangers opened the game with a 15-5 first-quarter run and held off the Beavers the rest of the way to snap a three-game skid.

“It felt good,” said North coach Paul Force. “I think the girls have been in a position to win games for the last week and a half, and we just haven’t been able to come through. The first quarter was key today, so we were playing from ahead. That was great energy in that first quarter. We knew Riverside is a tough place to play and Coach (Brian) Fulton does a great job. They’re the two-time defending WRC champion and I think getting ahead early gave the girls some confidence and put momentum in our favor.”…
