Man facing attempted murder, hit-and-run, DUI charges after hitting multiple vehicles in Socastee area, troopers say

SOCASTEE, S.C. (WBTW) — A 49-year-old man remains in jail after troopers say he hit two vehicles Friday on Dick Pond Road before fleeing and then hitting a South Carolina Highway Patrol cruiser and two Horry County police vehicles.

Jeremy Michael Sammons is accused of two counts of attempted murder, three counts of hit-and-run involving property damage, assaulting a police officer, driving under the influence and a host of other charges, according to J. Reuben Long Detention Center online records.

The incident prompted a large law-enforcement presence Friday afternoon on Socastee Boulevard and Brandy Mill Boulevard, where Sammons was arrested.
