Firefighters knock down brush fire east of Los Angeles

JURUPA VALLEY, Calif. (KTLA) – Firefighters contained yet another wildfire near the Santa Ana River in Riverside County Monday night that prompted evacuation warnings for nearby homes.

Crews with the Riverside Fire Department reportedly responded to the one-acre Jurupa Fire in the area of the Santa Ana River bottom, west of Van Buren Boulevard just before 5 p.m., according to Watch Duty .

The brush fire was well established in the riverbed, spreading at a moderate rate by the time firefighters were able to access the flames.

Evacuation warnings were issued for residents north of Jurupa Avenue, east of Crest Avenue and west of Van Burn Boulevard. Authorities also encouraged residents who might need extra time to evacuate to leave immediately…
