Seattle’s CID community calling for more interventions

SEATTLE — Business owners in Seattle’s Chinatown-International District (CID), including Little Saigon, are urging local and state officials to take action in response to a recent rise in violent crime and illegal activity in the area.

Their plea came during a press conference Monday. It was organized on the opening day of the state legislative session by Tanya Woo, a former city council member and community activist.

“We are surrounded by fencing, barbed wire, shuttered store fronts, boarded windows, and graffiti,” Woo said. “We want this neighborhood to return to how it used to be.”…
