Ukraine Launches Massive Attack on Russian Bases

Additional Coverage:

Ukraine’s military has launched its most extensive attack to date on Russian military targets, targeting sites hundreds of miles into Russia.

The operation included strikes on Engels-2 airbase, where Russia’s strategic bombers are based. A Ukrainian drone unit claimed responsibility for attacking the airbase’s fuel storage facility, causing a fire.

Other targets included a chemical plant in Seltso, which Ukraine alleges produces ammunition and cruise missile components. The military also hit an oil refinery and a plant that manufactures military equipment.

Ukraine employed drones to distract Russian air defenses before firing missiles, a tactic used in a previous attack. The military vowed to continue targeting Russian facilities that support the war effort.

Russia’s defense ministry reported shooting down nearly 150 drones, acknowledging the attack in Bryansk but providing no details on the other locations.

Ukraine’s cross-border attacks demonstrate its ability to strike critical Russian facilities deep within the country. This campaign highlights the long reach of Ukrainian forces and their determination to disrupt Russia’s war machine.
