Louisiana House Destroyed by Fire As Residents Flee

A very dramatic scene unfolded for one Louisiana family Monday as their house ended up on fire, and they were forced to flee.

According to Lafayette Fire Department spokesman Alton Trahan, the two residents who live at the home on Jeanette Street heard a strange popping sound, and when the mother looked outside through a window, she could see her house was on fire.

The woman and her daughter were able to get to the back door of the home, where they were safely able to get into the backyard. They could then cross a fence in the backyard to safely get to a neighbor’s yard.

Trahan says multiple calls came in to report a fire happening in the 300 block of Jeanette Street. Lafayette firefighters worked diligently to put out the blaze. Several areas of the house and adjacent carport were on fire when they arrived at the scene. They were able to successfully put the fire out around 20 minutes after getting to the scene. Multiple calls were made to 911 at around 7:20 Monday night…
