DENVER (KDVR) — The city of Arvada has agreed to a $2 million settlement in a lawsuit filed by the family of a pregnant woman an Arvada police officer shot and killed in 2021.
An officer shot Destinee Thompson in August 2021 outside an American Motel near Interstate 70 and Kipling Street as she tried to drive away from officers questioning her about an alleged armed robbery at a Target, Arvada police reported at the time . Thompson was later determined not to be the suspect police were looking for, FOX31 reported in 2023 when Thompson’s family filed the lawsuit.
