Fayette County Public Schools officials, city leaders explain reason behind continued use of NTI days

LEXINGTON, Ky. ( FOX 56 ) — Fayette County public school students will be learning from home again Wednesday. The district decided Tuesday evening to make Jan. 15 an NTI day.

The extended winter break is frustrating families who want answers about why schools remain closed. City and district leaders are now working to explain the delays.

Fayette County Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Demetrus Liggins said staff are working hard to get students back into the classroom, but when the district’s transportation team tested bus routes for safety today, the results were far from ideal.

“Many of our drivers experienced slick road conditions, with some having to even be rescued by tow trucks,” said Liggins.
