Hoag, the regional nonprofit healthcare system in Orange County, California, has announced a $50 million gift from the Sun Family Foundation in support of the Irvine hospital campus.
Building on a 2022 gift of $50 million from the couple, the gift boosts total giving from David and Diana Sun’s foundation to $100 million toward the expansion. The latest funding will support ongoing construction of the campus, previously named in honor of the Suns.
Slated to be complete in 2026, the expansion will add six buildings, 155 inpatient beds, and 120,000 square feet of ambulatory facilities to the campus and feature buildings dedicated to cancer and digestive care, women’s health, and advanced surgical procedures. The campus will also feature outdoor spaces, including gardens and open-air decks for patients and guests.
