Preserving property for parks: 160 acres gifted in Wood County

BOWLING GREEN — Property in Weston and Plain townships will be preserved and eventually become parks, thanks to a donation to the Wood County Park District.

At Tuesday’s meeting, the board of commissioners accepted the gift of 82.67 acres in Plain Township and 80 acres in Weston Township, which are valued at $1.75 million, from Karen McKee, a long-time county resident.

“This is quite a gift from Ms. McKee,” said Chris Smalley, parks director. “It has incredible potential.”…
