Snow in Lafayette is not impossible. A record 14 inches fell in 1895.

Although rare, Lafayette has seen snow accumulations in the past, the largest recorded being 14 inches that fell Feb. 14-15 in 1895.

Prolonged freezing temperatures and precipitation are definitely headed to Acadiana next week, meteorologist Andy Tingler with the National Weather Service in Lake Charles said.
