Cops hunt driver who struck, killed 69-year-old man in West Town

Chicago police need help as they try to identify a driver who killed a pedestrian in West Town last fall. Major Accident Investigations Unit detectives released surveillance images of the vehicle and the possible driver on Wednesday.

According to a CPD crash report, a 69-year-old man was crossing the 1600 block of West Chicago Avenue when a dark-colored sedan struck him around 3:13 p.m. on October 18.

A witness told police that the driver was heading west on Chicago Avenue when he struck the victim in a bus lane, outside the crosswalk, according to the report. It said the responsible driver pulled over and waited with the victim until EMS arrived…
