DA’s Bureau of Investigation Establishes Hotline for Reporting Price Gouging
RIVERSIDE – A hotline number has been set up to report suspected price gouging during the state of emergency declared in the aftermath of the greater Los Angeles area fires, including the Palisades, Eaton and Hurst fires, The hotline has been established by the DA’s Bureau of Investigation.
Anyone who believes a person or business may be price gouging can call our Consumer Protection Price Gouging Hotline at (888) 814-8450. Reports can also be made in Spanish at that number.
Price gouging is illegal and happens when an unscrupulous person or business tries to take advantage of consumers by raising prices more than 10 percent for essential goods or services during a declared state of emergency.
