BGSU says it will offer equine therapy program, free for students

TOLEDO, Ohio — Bowling Green State University (BGSU) will soon offer free equine therapy programming to students, according to a social media post from the institution.

Equine therapy incorporates what the university describes as “the healing touch of horses” in a group therapy setting. When it begins, the 10-week program will join only a small handful of universities in the country offering this free service to students, BGSU said in the post.

The BGSU Counseling Center is launching the program with the help of Project H.O.P.E. – a Bowling Green-based therapeutic riding program. It will begin with two groups, each of which includes six spots, starting on Feb. 10 for group one, which meets on Mondays. Group two meets on Thursdays, starting Feb. 13…
