PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WJAR) — No broad tax increase, but a fee on electric vehicles, a tax on home rentals and some digital ads, a cigarette tax hike, and turning the truck tolls back on are highlights of a budget plan unveiled by Rhode Island Gov. Dan McKee’s team Thursday.
The $14.2 billion spending proposal for the fiscal year beginning July 1 is a $250 million increase over the plan submitted last year.
