Two Firefighters and Three Civilians Hospitalized After Attempting to Save Toddler in Icy Water

GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. ( DDN ) – A toddler died in a sledding mishap, and five individuals who attempted to help were taken to the hospital, according to North Carolina officials.

The Guilford County Sheriff’s Office said that teams from many departments were dispatched to a golf course early Saturday, Jan. 11. The child was rescued from the water, transported to a hospital, and eventually died as a result of the accident -related injuries.
