Baton Rouge Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice Foundation Go Statewide

The Baton Rouge law enforcement and Criminal Justice Foundation, now known as the Louisiana Law and Criminal Justice Foundation, has been actively working to combat crime through collaboration with business owners and the community. Clay Young discussed the foundation’s efforts, highlighting the addition of Caddo Parish and the Louisiana State Police as member agencies.

A significant investment of $300,000 has been made in new or updated technology for the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office and Baton Rouge Police Department as part of the Page Rice Public Safety Initiative. This includes cameras, license plate readers, and weapons detection software. These tools have been instrumental in recovering stolen property and capturing incidents, such as the Christmas Eve shooting.

The foundation is also focusing on addressing blind spots on Interstate 10, investing over $200,000 in cameras to enhance public safety. These cameras, which cost around $60,000 each, are crucial for tracking criminal activities and exonerating innocent individuals.
