LSU Freshman Sensation Earns All-SEC Honors

Freshman LSU gymnast Kailin Chio earned the title of SEC Co-Freshman of the Week after achieving a personal best all-around score of 39.625 during the Tigers’ recent competition at the Sprouts Collegiate Quad in Oklahoma City. Her impressive performance included scores of 9.950 on vault, 9.900 on bars, 9.850 on beam, and 9.925 on floor.

The freshman has received SEC Freshman honors for two consecutive weeks after her initial collegiate competitions at LSU. Chio is currently ranked as the No. 5 all-around athlete in the nation and has secured a position in the top 20 for every event after the initial two weeks of competition.

Kailin talked about what it meant to get this award two weeks in a row. She said, “It’s just an honor. I don’t know if I can really put it into words but I guess just the award itself is just something that I never really came into… I’ve just been trying to do what’s best for my team and doing it for them and not just myself. But, I think that getting it is really motivating for me knowing that my hard work is paying off.”…
