Southeast Louisiana utilities say they’re prepared for the weather, and customers should prepare too

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – On Friday, (1/17), representatives from Cleco, Entergy Louisiana and Entergy New Orleans told Fox 8 they do not expect next week’s weather to severely impact their electrical systems, but residents should prepare regardless.

The two utilities recommend residents prepare with kits, which can include the following:

  • Flashlight
  • Batteries
  • Canned food
  • Can opener
  • Bottled water
  • Medication/First aid
  • Charged mobile devices
  • Hygiene items

Entergy Louisiana also published the following recommendations to keep energy costs low and homes heated:

  • Open curtains to allow sunlight to warm the home during the day, and close them at night
  • Insulate windows
  • Set the thermostat as low as comfortable
  • Seal leaks in walls and ceilings

Entergy Louisiana and Entergy New Orleans Vice President of Power Delivery Jason Willis said utilities are working with the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO).
