Cameron Diaz Reflects on Hiatus and Comeback
After a decade-long break from acting, Cameron Diaz is grateful to be back on screen. She describes her time away as “the best 10 years of [her] life,” allowing her to focus on her family and personal life.
Diaz’s last film role before her hiatus was in 2014’s “Annie.” She now stars in Netflix’s “Back in Action” alongside Jamie Foxx.
Diaz explains that her decision to step away from acting made sense for her family at the time. She and her husband, Benji Madden, have two children together. She says that eventually, people stopped offering her new roles, which she found “lovely.”
Despite her return, Diaz is unsure if she will make acting a permanent career move again. She says she is grateful for the opportunity to be back but will take it one step at a time.
Diaz has previously stated that she reserves the right to decline or accept future film roles based on her personal circumstances. “Back in Action” is currently streaming on Netflix.
