Agencies around Middle TN prepare for below freezing temperatures

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — With the help of Jarman Logging Firewood and Roger Green, the Dickson County Help Center is giving out free firewood so neighbors can heat their homes and stay warm during this weekend’s extremely cold weather.

“[Firewood] was stacked up pretty high. It’s the most I’ve ever seen us receive before,” said Angela Moore with the Dickson County Help Center.

Dickson County will also be offering utility assistance to those in need and the county’s YMCA will be opening their warming shelter on the night of Sunday, Jan. 19.

“Sometimes it’s hard to ask for help, and sometimes the need hides during times like this when it can become extremely dangerous to not have proper heating,” Moore added.
