First Alert as we brace for an extended freeze and winter storm

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – A few showers lingered into the evening on Saturday ahead of strong Arctic blast moving south across the United States. Temperatures will drop into the 30s north and 40s south for Sunday morning, but the cold keeps coming. High temperatures on Sunday will only be in the middle 40s and by Monday morning a hard freeze will see temperatures below 26 degrees for several hours north of Lake Pontchartrain and into the River Parishes. The cold will firmly settle across Southeast Louisiana and the Mississippi Gulf Coast with strong North winds at 20 to 25 and gusts in the 30 mph range. North of I-12 will have feels like temps in the single digits at times with it feeling like teens for most of the region. Monday afternoon highs will stay in the 30s. Take full freeze…..
