STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A rapidly intensifying storm — known as a “bomb cyclone” — is set to bring heavy snow and plummeting temperatures to New York City this afternoon and evening, according to AccuWeather.
While the term may sound alarming, a bomb cyclone is a storm that strengthens quickly, especially common during the winter months and with nor’easters, Tom Kines, senior meteorologist from AccuWeather, explained.
