More than 225 volunteers help pack, deliver winter clothes for MLK Day of Service

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The United Way of CNY and the Greater Syracuse Labor Council presented the 23rd annual MLK Day of Service on Monday.

More than 225 volunteers were at the Nottingham High School for the event. Volunteers helped sort, pack and deliver winter clothes to local non-profits and community-based organizations. Their service comes just as the weather in Central New York is expected to turn brutally cold.

President of the United Way of CNY Nancy Eaton said the event marked a special day. She noted that around 40% of households in the Central New York area struggle to keep their homes. She said many of them work multiple jobs to stay afloat…
