(FOX40.COM) — A 5-month-old baby is dead after an intoxicated father fell asleep on them, according to police in Northern California .
Around 11:53 p.m. on Sunday, the Paradise Police Department, Cal Fire, and Butte EMS Personnel responded to the 800 block of Violet Way for a baby who wasn’t breathing. When emergency crews arrived at the scene, they reportedly attempted life-saving measures, however, the infant was pronounced dead at the scene.

PPD said the baby’s father was intoxicated and fell asleep on the baby, resulting in the baby’s death. The father, a 26-year-old Paradise resident was arrested and booked into Butte County Jail for alleged child abuse resulting in great bodily injury or death and manslaughter.
