Quick-Thinking Driver Escapes Unharmed as Train Strikes Car in Oakley

Yesterday, a vehicle was struck by a train in Oakley, leaving the car extensively damaged but with no reported injuries, thanks to the quick action of the female driver. The mishap occurred at the intersection of Big Break Road and Main Street, where the woman found her car malfunctioning and, unfortunately, got it stuck on the tracks in her attempt to remove it from harm’s way.

According to a social media post by the City of Oakley, the Oakley Police were called to the scene at 5:33 PM yesterday. As soon as the collision was reported, the female near the collision site was confirmed as the driver and the only person in the vehicle. She exited the vehicle before the train’s impact, thus saving herself from the collision. The authorities confirmed that there were no indications of intoxication from the driver at the time of the incident, and the case has since been handed over to the Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) Railway Police Department for further investigation…
