MONDAY 4PM UPDATE: VIPIR 6 ALERT DAY in effect from Tuesday afternoon to Wednesday morning…tracking a southern Winter storm!
Timeline: 1pm Tuesday – 1am Wednesday….good chance that we won’t see any snow until closer to 5pm though. No more snow accumulation after 1am, but roads will be slick Wednesday morning. The snow that does reach the ground will not melt anytime soon, and any rain that falls in the afternoon will freeze at night. Sunshine combined with above freezing temps Wednesday afternoon will eventually lead to melting.
Alerts:
- Winter Storm Warning for Washington, Jefferson, Johnson, Emanuel, Jenkins, Screven & Allendale counties (highest impact areas)
- Winter Weather Advisory for Wilkes, Taliaferro, Hancock, Glascock, Warren, Burke, Barnwell & Bamberg counties (medium impact areas)
- The counties not included, such as Richmond, Columbia & Aiken, will see the lowest impacts.
Tuesday morning starts out dry… no issues when headed to school or work. There is high confidence that temperatures will warm into the upper 30s/low 40s Tuesday afternoon. That could prevent initial snowfall, and instead we just see rain at first. Temperatures will drop once the sun sets, and that’s when we will see out best chance of snow. Temperatures will quickly fall into the 20s. It is likely that most CSRA counties will see snow Tuesday evening, just not many places will see high accumulations…
