Medicare 2025: Payment Plan for RX drugs explained

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Medicare is complicated and often needs to be explained. Steve Edmunds from Alliance Insurance Company and Catherine Sevier from AARP join us to talk about how prescription drug coverage has changed for Medicare in 2025.

Medicare now has a payment plan to pay for your RX drugs

This is something that’s brand new from the Center for Medicare Services. It is a payment plan designed to spread out the costs of drugs through the year versus at check-out.

“If you’re taking two or three generic medications, you’re not gonna be interested in this, but if you’re taking a lot of medications and, that total is gonna get up to around probably the $2000 mark like the catastrophic coverage comes in. You can actually have that divided out by 12 months for the calendar year,” said Steve Edmunds from Alliance Insurance Services.

Using the payment plan means you don’t pay big deductibles and big premiums right at the start of the year…
