FORECAST UPDATE: Cold continues with a little snow south!

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – A very cold arctic airmass will continue to grip the ArkLaTex for a few more days. Snow will be possible Monday night into Tuesday over the southern edge of the area. Normal temperatures will likely return by the weekend.

Some snow accumulation SOUTH: Most of the ArkLaTex will not see much if any snow. That probably will not be the case for the southern edge of the area on Monday night into Tuesday. The latest snow outlook from the Blend of Models shows that it is likely that the only accumulating snow will be over much of Sabine and Natchitoches Parishes. These areas will likely end up with less than 1” of snow. There is a 10% chance of seeing amounts approaching 2”.

Tuesday forecast: Tuesday will begin with lots of clouds over most of the ArkLaTex. We will also have some lingering snow showers over the southern part of the area. The clouds will likely decrease from northwest to southeast during the afternoon. Temperatures Tuesday morning will begin in the low to middle 20s. Daytime highs will warm into the low to middle 30s.

Dry weather settles in: Futurecast shows the decrease in clouds that will continue Monday evening and Monday night. Expect lots of sunshine across the area on Tuesday. We will see a mostly clear sky on Tuesday night with lows dipping into the teens and a mix of sunshine and a few clouds on Wednesday. This dry weather pattern will likely continue into the weekend.

10-Day Forecast: Your 10-day forecast shows the cold air will gradually lose its grip on our weather during the week. Expect plenty of sunshine through Friday. Clouds will increase on Saturday and our next chance of rain will return by the end of the weekend on Sunday. Daytime highs will once again be in the 30s on Tuesday, warm into the 40s on Wednesday, and then settle into the 50s for the rest of the period. Overnight lows will likely stay in the 20s through Friday and then warm into the 30s and 40s this weekend as clouds and moisture return. We could see on-and-off chances of rain continuing through much of next week…
