Crews on Fort Myers Beach continue to collect piles of hurricane debris

Two hurricanes in the span of 13 days. Another hurricane from two years ago that is considered to be the worst to every hit Southwest Florida in terms of lost life and damage.

Add all of that up and the clean-up of the canals on Fort Myers Beach is tall order. Just when it feels like there is progress with Hurricane Ian debris − that powerful Category 4 storm struck on Sept. 28, 2022 − hurricanes like Helen (September 2024) and Milton (October 2024) come along and push more debris into the canals.

But the efforts continue and progress is being made…
