LENAWEE COUNTY — The coldest air of the year so far has resulted in Lenawee County schools seeing an extended Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday.
Frigid January temperatures forced school districts across the county to cancel not one but two consecutive days of school for the week after not having classes Monday, Jan. 20 because of the observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Districts are closed Tuesday and Wednesday while Lenawee County and much of Michigan deals with dangerously cold temperatures and wind chills amid Arctic air this week.
