CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M’s Blessing Akintoye and Aziz Mohammed were honored for their efforts on the track this past weekend as they were named the Lone Star Conference Indoor Track Athletes of the Week.

Akintoye made a name for herself during the eight annual Corky Classic this past weekend at the Sports Performance Center in Lubbock. The sophomore from Nigeria ran a time of 55.64 to pick up a victory in Heat 14 of the women’s 400m to finish 24th overall in a loaded field that featured some of the top Division I teams in the nation. The 55.75 altitude converted time is the 12th best mark in DII so far this season…
