Most roads remain icy, temperatures approach record lows

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C (WBTW) — Yesterday’s snow day was exciting and a nearly once-in-a-decade experience. Horry and Georgetown counties saw 4-6 inches of snow, the most in South Carolina associated with this winter storm.

Roads were hazardous for most of the day yesterday but sunshine on the asphalt did lead to a decent amount of melting. The busier roads are seeing improvements this morning, but middle lanes and slush built up on the sides are still causing issues. 5 inches in Myrtle Beach was the first measurable snowfall since January 2022 and the first over an inch since 2010 (3.5 inches). In total, this is the most snow since 1989. There is a cold weather advisory in effect until 10 a.m., as temperatures are lower than yesterday. We are starting in the teens and will be close to record lows…
