High of 36 on a chilly Thursday in the Triad

PIEDMONT TRIAD, N.C. (WGHP) — It’s frigid this morning with temperatures in the teens, so please protect yourself from this cold, dry air. A veil of clouds will continue to seep across our skies today, but a milder, west-southwest breeze will push temperatures into the mid-30s this afternoon.  For the first time since Sunday night, we will be above freezing!

Skies will gradually clear out overnight, and lows are going to return to the lower-20s by daybreak.

A cold front forecast to cross the state tomorrow will do little to change our sensible weather.  The air over us is so dry, we aren’t going to be able to squeeze out a drop (or flake), so aside from a burst of clouds in the forecast for the afternoon, you may not notice a front has come through.  High temperatures will rise to the lower-40s…
