Police: Interstate chase leads to felony arrest

VENICE — Drugs packaged in candy-type wrappers with names like “Stoner Patch” and one with a familiar cookie wrapping named “Double-Stuffed Stoned” were among items found after an Interstate 75 car chase.

Derrick Jerome Truttling, 30, of Fort Myers, was allegedly driving a 2016 BMW recklessly about 11:56 p.m. Wednesday, according to a news release from Florida Highway Patrol. FHP assisted Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office with the “active pursuit” southbound on the interstate.

“As the BMW continued to flee, it attempted to exit onto Laurel Road (Exit 195) at a high rate of speed,” it stated. “In doing so, the BMW (struck) the Laurel Road curbed median, which disabled the BMW as it came to a stop on the return ramp to Interstate 75.”…
