AAA Texas: Gas prices rise with fluctuating crude oil prices

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — Drivers in Texas saw an increase in gas prices this week with an average of $2.74/gallon for regular unleaded fuel on Thursday, which is a 5-cent increase compared to last week and 2 cents more compared to this day last year, according to the AAA Texas Weekend Gas Watch.

According to AAA Texas, drivers in Amarillo were paying $2.66/gallon, a 1-cent decrease compared to last week and a 20-cent increase compared to this day last year. AAA Texas reported that drivers in the El Paso area were paying the most on average at $2.96/gallon and drivers in Wichita Falls are paying the least at $2.61/gallon.

Nationally, the average price per gallon was $3.13 on Thursday, three cents more when compared to this day last week and five cents more per gallon when compared to this day last year.

According to AAA Texas officials, recent data indicates fluctuating crude oil prices over the past week that could influence future gas prices.
