Louisville doctors warn of new ‘quademic’

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – Louisville doctors are warning of an unusual spike in respiratory illnesses and novovirus, known by many as the stomach bug.

Flu, COVID-19, RSV and the novovirus make up what Dr. Mark Burns with the University of Louisville (UofL) called a ‘quademic’. He said they are expecting more cases to come up in the next few weeks, which is why he wants people to take safety measures sooner rather than later.

“It’s always present,” Dr. Burns said of the norovirus. “But there’s been a spike that we hadn’t seen in previous years.”…
