Drivers across the New Orleans area were dealing with severe traffic and hours-long waits Friday as major roadways and bridges remain closed for ice to slowly melt away.
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development’s road map indicated severe slowdowns in areas where drivers are trying to circumnavigate major road closures due to ice, like Interstate 10 and parts of the Westbank Expressway.
Both I-10 and the Expressway reopened by 4 p.m. Friday.
Areas with major traffic included entrances to the Crescent City Connection Bridge, where only one lane of traffic is open in each direction, the Westbank Expressway in Jefferson and along city roads in Metairie like Metairie Road and Veterans Boulevard…
