ST. LOUIS — As lawmakers debate whether the state should take over the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, one of the local police unions is offering its support. Mayor Tishaura Jones testified against the proposal in Jefferson City this week and The Ethical Society of Police was also there countering her message.
The head of the group said his stance has nothing to do with the mayor or her administration. Instead, he said it’s about the state potentially coming in and improving the internal structure that helps police do their jobs better.
