The eclipse that took place on Jan. 24 would be able to be seen by Albany residents who missed out when a picture of the phenomenon showed for the week at the Leland Theatre. Leland manager Oscar J. Perrin excitedly made the announcement after receiving a telegram from Truman H. Talley, director of Fox News, that said the photographic expedition had been a success and the film would be shipped to Albany by Monday.
Saugerties was the closest place to experience full totality of the eclipse, but people who traveled there to see it were greeted by hazy clouds in front of the sun. Fox News, however, had sent a cameraman up in an airplane above the clouds to capture the spectacle. Talley had waited to contact the local theater until it had been determined that the footage had turned out successfully…
