Journeymen Wrestling hosts Girl’s State Duals Championships

ALBANY, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) — Girls’ wrestling has become the fastest-growing high school sport in the country. And Journeymen Wrestling is doing its part to grow the sport right here in the Capital Region.

The Malta-based organization hosted the Girl’s State Duals Championships Saturday at Washington Avenue Armory, bringing together six high school teams from across New York State.

Shenendehowa High School represented Section II, and reached the championship match before falling to Section XI’s Rocky Point.

But this event had an added wrinkle. Five top-20 ranked collegiate programs made the trip to Albany as well – including the University of Iowa, the No. 1 team in the nation – and held their matches on the mats right next to the high school teams…
