Troy Police stop stolen car after pursuit

TROY, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) — The Troy Police Department made an arrest on Saturday after officers were involved in a pursuit. The incident took place around 1 p.m.

On Saturday afternoon, police located a car that had been reported stolen in Troy on Friday night. The car’s driver allegedly took off as officers tried to stop the vehicle, leading to police engaging in a chase.

The pursuit took Troy Police from Lansingburgh into Waterford, where the suspect struck a metal sign on Division Street, bringing the car to a halt. While approaching the vehicle, an officer reportedly lost his footing, resulting in an unintentional discharge of his firearm. The suspect, whose identity has not yet been disclosed, was then taken into custody.

The suspect allegedly sustained a minor injury to the lip during the pursuit. They and the police officer who fell were both taken to a local hospital to be evaluated.
