VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — An AMBER Alert has been canceled after a body was found near the Virginia Beach apartment complex where authorities were searching for a 12-year-old boy.
Police were searching in a body of water near the complex where he was last seen Friday. The body and clothing matched the description of Juan Sebastian Mejia Acevedo, officials said during a Monday press conference.
“Our marine patrol was back out here early this morning checking the ponds and a little bit earlier today utilizing some new technology that we have received for sonar,” Virginia Beach Police Chief Paul Neudigate said. “We recovered a body that was approximately eight feet under the water. That body matches the physical description and the clothing description that we have for Juan Acevedo.”…
