7’s Hero: Meridian neighborhood holds healing bake sale for family after house explosion

MERIDIAN, Idaho — On Monday, Jan. 6, a home exploded in the Turnberry Subdivision in Meridian. The Hartsough family lost everything they owned, including their cars. Fortunately, the family made it out alive and unharmed just in time.

Many nearby people, including the neighborhood kids, reported hearing the explosion and said they saw its terrifying aftermath. Maureen Giordano lives in that subdivision with her family.

“It was in the evening, and my son and his friends were playing in front of our home, and all of a sudden, there was a huge explosion, and the kids kinda came running and scattering across the neighborhood,” Maureen said. “The home was on fire, engulfed in flames. My son was in the street and he was crying and visibly upset and scared, and we could see the home over our neighbors fence line and you could see the flames clear over the other homes.”…
