- I briefly spoke to a firefighter that I found attractive. I drew a stick figure of him and the internet found him for me. (newsbreak.com)
Seattle resident Amelia Samson, 31, had an unforgettable experience last October. While hosting a party for her podcast’s 100th episode, a guest became suddenly ill.
Samson and her friends called 911. Firefighters arrived, and Samson was struck by their, well, attractiveness.
One firefighter, in particular, caught her eye. He was tall, well-built, and had kind eyes, she recalled.
After the firefighters left, the conversation naturally turned to the handsome rescuer. Samson, regretting not speaking to him more, briefly searched online fire department rosters before deciding on a different approach.
She drew a stick figure of the firefighter and posted it on social media. A friend of the firefighter’s wife quickly identified him – and revealed he was married with a new baby. Samson posted a humorous response video and moved on.
The story didn’t end there. A month later, Samson saw a photo of a mug featuring her stick figure drawing at the fire station. A firefighter’s wife had seen the drawing and made mugs for the department.
The stick figure saga continued. Months later, Samson discovered a video of the firefighter’s family wearing T-shirts with her drawing, each labeled with their relationship to him. His dad’s shirt read “son,” his niece’s “uncle,” and so on.
Samson was delighted by the lighthearted response. She appreciated the firefighter’s wife’s good humor about the situation and felt the whole experience showcased the positive side of social media. However, she now avoids eye contact with firefighters, mortified they might recognize her.
