FIRST ALERT: Light Snow and Strong Winds Will Continue To Create Poor Travel Conditions

FIRST ALERT SATURDAY NIGHT – SUNDAY: Our Saturday has featured light snow with very strong winds across a good chunk of the region creating poor visibility and icy roads. Although temperatures are well above the average with most locations ranging from the middle 20s to lower 40s, strong southeast wind gusts ranging from 30 to 45 mph have given the day a cooler feel. Overnight into Sunday morning, there is a chance of flurries, but little moisture is expected from those flurries. Then on Sunday morning, we get another round of strong wind gusts above 30 mph, this time in the Devils Lake Basin and the northern Red River Valley and northwest MN. These areas will not see much snow, so the risk of blowing snow is lower. However, it still can’t be ruled out in northwest MN. Those gusts last until about 5 PM at the latest. With that in mind, the risk of blowing snow will diminish by late afternoon Sunday, ending the need for a First Alert Weather Day…
