Sarasota project to replace water main along Tamiami Trail will take more than three years

Sarasota city officials are preparing for a major water infrastructure project that could disrupt traffic on segments of North Tamiami Trail for years. One of the city’s key water mains, over 60-years-old and deteriorating, needs to be replaced. The main runs through the center of Tamiami Trail, one of the busiest highway corridors in the state, so replacing the entire pipe at once is infeasible.
