CDC: Illinois respiratory illnesses high; Metro East hospital at full capacity

MARYVILLE, Ill. – Anderson Hospital in Maryville, Ill., has implemented even more visitor restrictions after the hospital reached peak census, meaning it has run out of beds for patients with flu and respiratory symptoms.

Hospital guidelines now restrict visitors under age 18, except for siblings of newborn patients in the Pavilion for Women. Anderson’s urgent care facilities are seeing about 180 patients per day, hospital officials said. They are are discouraging anyone with flu-like symptoms to refrain from visiting and encourage everyone visiting to wear a mask.
