A 31-year-old man was sentenced to over seven years in prison on Jan. 24 after pleading guilty to assault and unlawful use of a weapon for shooting and injuring a man near the intersection of Highway 99 North and Roosevelt Blvd. late at night on Dec. 13.
Multiple Eugene police officers and personnel with the Eugene-Springfield Fire Department rendered first aid to the injured 29-year-old man, who was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The suspect, identified as Robert Lowen-Birtsch, fled the scene, according to court records.
