Woman arrested for replacing American flag with Mexican flag at Hart Park: KCSO

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Park Rangers arrested a woman after allegedly cutting the chain to a flagpole and replacing the American flag with the Mexican flag at Hart Park Thursday morning. The arrest comes as Eyewitness News interviewed her for protesting in front of City Hall a week prior.

At around 9:36 a.m., Park Rangers responded to Hart Park after they received multiple reports of a person trying to steal the American flag from the park’s entrance, said Kern County deputies.

In body-worn camera footage shared by the sheriff’s department, Park Rangers found a vehicle stuck in the muddy grass next to the flagpole when they arrived.
